Meet Kirsty

Firstly, well done me, I am no longer Kirsty Preece I am now Mrs Woolley having recently married my wonderful husband Chris, who together with my daughter Morgan and my horse Schon have made my life complete.

My involvement with horses began at an early age, thanks to the Bennachie branch of the Pony Club I developed my equestrian skills and knowledge, being put through my paces by hard task masters and mistresses gave me the ability and confidence to learn and improve, at the time I didn't realise just how much those days would help me in my future life. I have many happy memories of my youth, from representing Bennachie Pony Club, being part of Findon Riding Club, travelling to many shows across Scotland and who could forget competing against the adults at various show jumping events.

Following my junior years I desperately sought after employment with horses and was willing to do anything. Luckily I found a yard where I was able to work with youngsters and eventually after proving myself, was asked to back and train their horses. This was a dream come true and I put all I had into them. One of these was sent to Guy Williams where it was sold.

During my time there I had one to one training with Mike Barker (natural horseman) on two occasions. I have always had a way of understanding horses which has enabled me to work with even the most difficult or 'un-backable' but working with Mike gave me so much more and I use it now without thinking in my everyday handling.

All of the above gave me invaluable experience and knowledge, which enables me to do what I do today, working with horses.

I am now self employed and am building a good reputation on my own. Initially I was based at Carriden Stud and am now based at Faraway Equestrian, Forgue, Aberdeenshire.

I have consistently produced and trained a number of horses for clients who have then been sold and are now successfully competing. With this in mind during 2008 I researched into successful show jumping lines and bought a Hanoverian with outstanding breeding (Grandsire Pilot, Dam sire Zeus). I bought him from Germany as an un-backed 4yo. I have had him since September 2008, backed and produced him as a show jumper and was consistently being placed at 90-1.00m at unaffiliated level with double clears.

He is a phenomenal horse and he is now being produced by one of the top 30 BSJA riders.

Look out for his progress... it will be available along with his rider shortly...
